Officiated by DOSH Petroleum Safety Division Director YBrs Ir. Mohd Rosdee bin Yaacob, with DOSH representatives from Putrajaya and the participating states, this collaboration is a joint initiative to ensure the safety and health standards at LPG distribution centers are prioritized and maintained at the highest standards possible. As the nature of business and the products these centers are dealing with, it is of utmost importance that emphasis on health and safety should be prioritized and not underestimated. This initiative also connects the government agencies and private companies in promoting public safety awareness.

During the convention, training sessions were provided to train and equip LPG gas distributors on legislation and requirements relating to the storage of Malaysian LPG and to share experiences and information on the risks and hazards involved. This is in keeping with the vision and mission of DOSH ensuring the health and welfare of workplaces and the surrounding communities are maintained.

As this event coincided with the Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) Week celebrated on the second week of July, it was timely that this convention focused on the increase of safety awareness among gas cylinder distributors. As these products are categorized as Major Hazard Installation (MHI) or non-MHI depending on the quantity stored, it was crucial that premise owners understand the safety rules and adhere to them.

It was heartening to note that with all these safety rules implemented and applied, occupational accidents between 2020 to 2021 decreased from 2.18 to 1.43 per 1,000 workers respectively. DOSH together with the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health successfully raised awareness of employers, employees and medical practitioners in reporting cases of disease and poisoning in workplaces which led to the increase of reports on occupational disease.

2022 is a meaningful year for NGC Energy as we celebrate our 10th anniversary together with MiraGas dealers who has been with us since our inception. We are proud to be at service to all in the distribution of LPG and we remain steadfast in our commitment to safety and health, not just at our stores but also to the communities at large.
